Clear Mask (Clearmask) or other clear bras?

All,

Now that I got my B5.5, the first thing I want to do is put a clear bra on it to protect from rock chips, other car's doors, and parking rash.

Where's the best place to get 3M Clearmask from?

Is there a better product than that?

Should I have a dealer do it or do it myself?

Thanks!

I have the Xpel Kit (it's pretty much a 3M film) from autoclearguard.com for my bumper, headlights and fogs...They're great !!
especially after I cracked the outer glass of one of my fogs...and the stealership wants $90+ for the replacement unit (you have the buy the whole unit)

Ryan is a member in here as well...and it definitely a DIY job...you don't need to go to the dealership for this.

Hey Big_C, thanx for the info.

I checked out the Xpel website, but I didn't see any reference to 3M. I also see that the Clearmask product is 8mil while Xpel is 6mil.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Bump!

Are there any pros or cons to doing the clear bra vs other types of protection?
clear bra on both my cars, nothing's better, IMO. i did neither one myself, the passat (hood and fender tips only) was $140 i think, had it done with the tint at the tint place. also had someone come out and do the stratus, hood only, $100, maybe not as good as the passat.

a.s.
I'm working a deal for kits from a local distributor here in Columbus, OH for a group-buy kind of thing for our local OhioVW.com club. As soon as I get prices on the kits I can post them here, if you are interested in a DIY job.

Thanks,
