I have Alpine head units that somehow gather dust particles in between the LCD display and "protective" outer lens. They were really starting to annoy me, especially at night, when the HU lights highlight them quite clearly.

Well I finally decided that I couldn't live with the specks ruining the sleek appearance of my central component so I opened it up and cleaned out the offending particles. It was a little scary at first but not as difficult as you might think to open up the HU.

The final result: no more dust specs '' and my HU looking brand new (cept for the couple of scratches my wife put on the lens ).

If anyone is interested I can go thru the procedure and post some pix.

Wow, way to take the initiative. I have not had this problem with mine yet, but when I do, I will know who to call.

I cleaned mine by shooting compressed air from the side of the screen , works great , and you dont have to open the unit.

I thought of the compressed air as well. My concern was that all I'd do is swirl the dust around w/o really getting rid of it. But if it worked for you that's all that counts :thumbup: I tend to be a bit anal with my stuff. oke:
