okay i have a B5.5 where is the ecu located on the car and how can i check if it has a chip ? is there a way im a new b and dont know much about the passats i am learning alot tho any info is helpful thanks alot ...:lol:

pop hood, facing car, upper right corner by driver side, you should see a black box. unscrew it and ecu is located inside.

you could take out ecu and see if there's a chip tuner's logo on it. or if u plan on getting chipped, u can just install a boost gauge which is handy to have. if you're boosting double digit psi, you're chipped.

i believe stock is 6-8psi.

but if you bought it used, and someone switched back to stock settings(apr or giac switcher), then the boost levels would still be stock, but it is not the "factory" stock chip. and for the b5.5, stock boost is 10psi. actual boost on the dbw can be checked via the vag-com

also, the newer cars are flashed, and don't have a physical aftermarket chip soldered in the ecu.
