Hello,

I have a 2002 1.8T B5.5 Variant with the tiptronic. Some of the inside panels are peeling and looks terrible. I have tried removing it by hand and using alcohol, but still looks pretty bad. I decided to simply buy replacement parts for them. I got the driver's side door handle ($30) and I am trying to replace the center console where the shifter sits. I know this is a simple task, but I am having a heck of a time taking the piece out :banghead: . The area around the shift knob (not just the silver plate, but the entire section where the shift plate rests including the cigar lighter) is supposed to come out by simply lifting the back (close to the emergency brake) and disconnecting the lighter. I followed the Bently instructions, but there seems to be something else holding it. Has anyone done this? Am I missing something? Also, I took out the shift knob (spring and all) and do not know how to put it back :( . HELP.
