Blauparts.com Quality

Has anyone else had problems with the quality of parts from Blauparts.com?

I recently installed their U-slotted rotors/brake kit on my 03 1.8T wagon about two months ago and they squeaked from day one and are already warped. Checked with my mechanic for a second opinion and he said brake calipers et al are fine, but the rotors just look thin and defective.

I also ran into problems with the Blauparts accessory belts that came with the timing belt kit. They didn't last much more than 30k miles.

From what I know 30k is when a serp belt should be changed.
did you bed the brake pads properly?
I have Blau parts in my car with no issues so far(timing belt kit and some other stuff)
did you use anti-squeal compound on the back of the front brake pads?

blauparts doesn't manufacture the rotors - who made them?

Exactly.

Squealing from day one on your brake job? Doesn't sound like it was executed correctly. They shouldnt make noise
New pads used (from kit), anti-squeal compound applied, pads bedded properly.

I'm not sure exactly who makes the rotors for Blau, but came across similar posts on other Audi and VW forums which made me start questioning the quality of parts.

Blauparts has great customer service, is local (for me), and cheap, so I want to find every reason to keep using them. Just wanted to get opinions. Thanks.
What brake pads and rotors do you have that is doing it?
This kit front and rear. Can't find a manufacturer on the rotors, it only says "Blausport."

you call that cheap? I can get meyle coated rotors and PBR deluxe pads for only $115 shipped. Awesome combination, no squeal and good pedal feel. You paid too much.

I do not like it when a company such as this has their own brand. They do so primarily to make money and not for quality. You know who makes their blausport shocks? KYB, which is known to not have a very good shock for the B5/5.5.

Oh and they swear up and down that the plastic waterpump is better so they don't sell anything else.
Oddly enough, my Blau timing belt kit came with a metal waterpump.
I used Meyle Rotors ($64) and PBR deluxe ($44) both with free shipping from MJMAutoHaus. They works fine, but the only issue is, when ever i release the brakes, it makes this sound..kind of like the sound when the pads are wet. It always makes this sound Hot or Cold. I bedded it properly as per instructions. But it i can live with that. The rear Pagid black pad with Oreilly rotors also makes similar sound. Now i got used to this sound.
I have used Blauparts on a few occasions. Timing belt kits ect, never had an issue.

Mind you I would never buy 'Plated Anti-Rust Coating' brake disks. Seems illogical to purchase a plated part that's meant to wear.

Totally logical. There are non-wearing parts of the rotor liek the hat and edge.
True, the non-wearing edges of the rotors have some kind of protective painted finish. Seems to work.

Update: Blau customer service said they'd give "special consideration" for a refund. I'll let you guys know what happens.
Been out of town for awhile. Still waiting to hear from Blau.
Man, give them a call, they always get back to me fast.

Yes, thumbs up  for Blauparts. I've ordered from them twice and would definitely order from them again. Unlike many parts sellers, they have a repair shop so they use these same parts on customers' cars. If the parts break on installation or prematurely wear, they can switch suppliers based on their personal experience wrenching on these cars.
:wrench:
Bought their timing belt kit and used their tools. 6k miles later and no problems. More problems with the front brake pads from auto zone - I know I should of never gotten the duralast pads to begin with.
Dr No, which Duralast pads did you tired? Duralast Gold? I read some where that they clank on the carrier.

There is a procedure on how to fix it by ECS (for most aftermarket pads). Basically you will create a blur in the pad collars to make it fit tighter.

I never used Duralast / Duralast Gold.
I bought their timing belt kit with the free serp belt about 30k ago (about 2 years). Bought their serp kit last week to replace the tensioner. The belt I took off looked terrible with ribs missing and falling off... I bought a different belt and installed the tensioner. I dont even want to think about how much time i had left on that belt. No issues with any of the other parts yet.
