Hello everyone,

I just purchased my first VW and it seems to have a few issues. It's a 2009 B6 Passat Komfort Wagon that has just over 160,000 miles on it. I just replaced the passenger side rear control arm bushing a few days ago. The car ran great until I started hearing infrequent popping noises from the front suspension when I turned the wheel all the way to the left or right. It also makes a few popping noises when I hit the brakes.

Some people have said the solution was simply tightening the bolts around that area (especially where any work was done recently).

Any ideas as to what this could be?

- Thanks!

You didn't say any work was done on the front. Was there? At that mileage, it could be the struts/mounts, tie rod ends, or ball joints/bushings in the lower front control arms. All pretty simple replacements. Struts a little more involved than the other pieces.

Pop off the front wheels and do some investigation.
