Hello all, I have got a problem with my 2002 1.8t.
It takes a bit of cranking to get started hot or cold.
I found that if I turn the key till the dash lights up and let the fuel pump prime a few times till it does not prime the car starts straight away.It always runs fine with no issues, this started 2 weeks ago.
I have a VAG-COM and that shows no faults related to the engine so I wondered if anyone else has had this problem?
Regards j.johnson23.

When was the last time you had changed the fuel filter? Make sure it is not totally gunked up.
When was the last time you had cleaned up the injectors? Make sure they are clean.

Also check the spark plugs and see if they are in reasonable shape ( I mean not too old and dirty). Don't forget to clean the TB and align it.

Another cause of rough start could be a dying Crank Position Sensor.

I would say start with these first. But it could also have other causes.
