I saw this on VWFIXX.COM and thought it might help people with some of the finer details they didnt know! Apparently my passat comes with 170BHP standard and a K03S Turbo! I'm happy if thats true according to my engine code AWM!!

To whoever moved this to Info Forum:

Lots of Golf/Jetta Info, prefer to have it deleted and let Info be Passat-only.

Some descrepancies with Bentley? Let's discuss this thread.

Engine Code
AWM...

Fuel and ignition system

2001-2003
Motronic ME7.1, OBD II
my Bentley says Motronic 7.5

Boost Level
0.6 bar / 8.7 psi
I thought this was 0.7 bar for the AWM (vs. 0.5 bar for the AEB, ATW, AUG)

Turbo size
K03 w.K04 compressor
BW part no.: 5303 988 0029 (AKA: K03-0029)
OEM part no.: 058145703J
Can anyone actually substantiate the "K03 w.K04 compressor" statement?

Downpipe size
1.97" (50mm)
Are you sure? IIRC it is slightly larger...

Oil Capacity w/filter
4.6 qt. (4.35 liters)
3.9 Liters / 4.1 quarts
"including filter": 4.1 liters / 4.3 quarts

Manual Transmission
02J
5-speed "012/01W"
codes for manual trans paired w/ 1.8T engine vary by model year: DHW, DHY, DVX, EHV, EZG (not sure which apply to the AWM).

Models with this engine:
Differences: Injector size, intake manifold volume, variable cam timing, hybrid K03/K04 turbo, different cat outlet diameter and overall length, plus other misc. "improvements" to keep the 1.8Ts output from encroaching on that of the V6.
Differences compared to what?

^^^^^^^^^^^^

Seems like there is a lot of questionable information in the original post...

I'm not even convinced the "K03-Sport" is an *actual* part with a specific Borg-Warner part number. It seems to be a catch-all to describe several different K03 turbos: K03-0025, K03-0029, and maybe even more.

I think they are referring to the differences to a 150 hp motor vs a 170 hp motor, ie. where did the extra 20 hp come from?

my car has an awm motor and a ggh code 5 speed manual i dont know why they used a weird tranny instead of using the one from the a4. it is 4 motion.

I wondered about the validity of that original post too. The red flag for me was the supposed .6 bar boost spec. I have a stock engine (other than intake and hybrid diverter) and I will spike up to 12.5-13psi and will hold 10.5-11.5psi. I have checked my engine and it is an AWM. 2003 with a manual trans.

okay on the answer to the vvt thing. is the head or something else designed differently? anoter thing is the a4 geared taller or shorter than the passat?

The final drive is the ring and pinion. It is inside the transmission (at least for the front wheels - may be at the rear axle for the rears, but may not... I never worked on mine to that level). The transmission is the 'same' as the others, but has a different part number because there is different final drive gearing inside it, and it has the tailshaft output for the rear.

AFAIK the differentials are the same.
