Bilsteins

I concur wholeheartedly. Bilsteins are the best shocks that I have every used, and I've used quite a few. I find that Bilsteins have the best ride/handling compromise of any shock I've seen, and I run race-valved Bilsteins on my street/open track Mustang. When I get around to it, I'll be putting Bilsteins (probably sport valving) on my Variant.

Fabulous info! I just read the shock section. He actually likes Konis quite a bit - his main beef is that they are only rebuildable from the factory.

I've used Bilsteins on every vehicle I've ever owned, including trucks! But my car told me he wanted Konis. Don't know why. When I think about replacing them with Bilsteins, it just doesn't feel right. For some reason, the Passat wants Konis. I figure I'd better not piss him off.

My car has no gender. Its name is "the blue car", and alternately "my car"(to me), "dad's car"(to the wife and kids) or "the passat".

Flame on...lol. At least this guy gives valid rasons for why he makes his recommendations. I've been very happy w/Konis for 25+ years, but I've never even heard of a shock dyno. Now I've got something more to look forward to!

There seems to be some self-interest in his recommendation of Bilstein over KONI. He is authorized to service Bilstein. He was not able to work out a deal with KONI. I think he might be exaggerating the performance gap between the two.

Anyhow, I just ordered PSS9s. :)
