Hi Guys, just bought a 99 V6 4-motion down here in Australia.

I am wanting to change the auto trans fluid & diff oils etc and my question is does the 5 speed auto 4WD set up have a seperate transfer/centre diff assembly and what oils does it take. Also is there any info with pics on it being done?

Thanks heaps in advance!!!

The TorSen (center differential) uses seperate fluid as does, obviously, the rear differential. It takes the same fluid as the other two differentials:
G 052 145 S2 (SAE75 W 90 synthetic oil)
The transmission uses G 052 162 A2 (VW ATF - I think Pentosynth?)
If you can, get a Bentley manual for performing the service.
Another source might be audiworld.com - 4Motion is the same as Quattro IV in the A4, A6, and A8 Audi family.

Thanks Stewart.
I am not too keen on the Bentley manual as my engine is ACK code which the manual does not cover, but I may need it just for jobs like this.

No - Bentley covers the AHA and ATQ.
Out of curiosity, what does the ACK entail?
The AHA and ATQ are 90 degree, 30 valve.
Audi made an earlier 90 degree, 12 valve engine - but they never put it in North American bound Passats.

I would not be suprised if if nearly the same minus some emissions equipment.

The front differential does not have a drain, you need an extractor. The center it a little hard to fill since it is above the exhaust. The rear seal on the center differential is a common leak point. Not too bad to change out if needed.
