I'm taking a course at University for Music Appreciation. We are studying Black Urban music (Hip Hop) from the early 80's to early 90's (nothing past 1996)

no one has mentioned the all time greatest freestyle MC from the Bronx,
Lord Finesse (and DJ Mike Smooth) If you need a song you can go with Return of the Funky Man.

And Kool Keith (Ultramagnetic MC's) and one of the greatest rap songs of all time "Critical Beatdown"
