So I think I just about completely ragged out my k03. Only boosting up to 5psi.
So I've been considering many turbo options here.
The ball bearing ATP's sound pretty cool, and I see I should do a fuel regulator upgrade along with further chip tuning. All though,, since I don't know anyone with one. Can you share your personal opinion on the upgraded turbo you have?
I am currently using the following;
AEM Boost Controller
Forge Intercooler and intake hoses.
Chipped from SpeedTuning USA
Stock everything else.

Thanks Mister T. I will look more into the tranny situation and re-evaluate my plans a bit. I was not looking to make more than 300hp, since it's my daily driver, so I think I'll ge the gtrs and keep the duty cycle way down. This way I'll attempt to make the turbo, tranny ect.. more reliable
Also, when I do decide what I will be doing, I plan to document the total install on a thread. Should be an interesting topic for a B5.5 Tiptronic. I only hope I succeed!

I am waiting on a proposal from Widow Racing. Dealing with Mike there. I got the Forge Intercooler from them for 755 a while back. I'll check with you guys if I see something out of the ordinary. However the package I'm looking at is capable of 350hp. Beause this is my daily driver, I'm looking to stay around 300hp for tranny reasons... Read some tranny problems with hp over 300.

With an upgraded torque converter I would say that you're probably good for around 275 ish. You could probably press it to about 300, however I wouldn't go much past that without upgrading the valve bodies as well.

If you're going BT on the tip transmission, the other reason that you'd want to upgrade the TC is to match the stall speed to the bigger turbo. If you raise the stall by about 1000 RPM it will be way more livable. Otherwise you may be kinda laggy for the first 1000 RPM or so. I can't say for sure as my TC was replaced before I ever put the GTRS in. However, you have a leg up since you're at sea level vs my running at 3500 ft elevation.

You know, I got to thinking and if you're planning on doing a T25 manifold style GT setup, and you don't want more than 300 HP then you may want to look at a GT28r. The 28r will spool about 500 RPM sooner than a 28rs.

However you'll be paying a little more upfront than with the elim. The T-25 flanged GT28r will require the manifold, downpipe and intake tract be changed at the same time. Whereas with the elim series, you can change that stuff out at a later date.
