I've come to the conclusion that I really need R-comps to compete in SM now. I piss off quite a few people by beating them in a Passat, but they get really mad when they see I'm on street tires  I know that I'll go through multiple sets of R-comps for the season and that's a lot cash I don't have.

I supply the cool tricked out :b5: you supply the wheels and tires. Any takers??? Any other suggestions???

I'll co-drive with you if you come to Atlanta.

I would suggest buying some takeoffs for 25 or 30 bucks each. They should last at least 5 or 6 events, possibly even more. That way for only $100-$120 you can check out how the car would actually do without putting out $800 at the start. Check your SCCA forum classifieds. There are hardcore racers who use V710s for one track day then get rid of them.

Its funny how classes are so different in different parts of the country. If your not on R comps in SM here your last. And a passat on R comps would likely get killed anyway here. SM is pretty much a rabbit class here....glad I run in STS

this guy sells used Rcomp tires.

I got 4 V700's for $100. 2 were pretty good, but 2 of them had a square edge that was noticible on the balancing machine (the breaks had been locked).

I used the tires for A-X school so they saw 21 runs and are almost slicks now. the tremendous difference in the grip made it so that i constanly was overdriving. with the quaife diff, I really put a hurting on the tires.

Next time I'll try to drive smoother.
