The threads on the Boxter calipers are very susceptible to cross-threading damage, rendering the caliper unusable. Such is the condition of Betty's old Boxter calipers after the buyer's installer stripped the threads on the brake line hole in one of the two. I offered to repair them, and so I purchased an nifty M10-1.0 thread repair tool that uses solid stainless inserts suitable for brake fluid duty under hydraulic pressure.
A picture essay for the moment, because I have to complete the fix with an additional blind tap. The tap I have in the kit is through tap, and only cut threads about 1/2 of the needed depth. So I will complete the fix tomorrow after a trip to fastenal for the right bit.
