Alientech HELP!!!

1006 Views 13 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  JimmyDee
I just got done installing the Alientech controller in my new 04.5 b5.5 4mo. I have gotten the roll up and roll down to work, however, it seems very touchy. Some times it will work, whereas others, it will not. The largest problem of note is the sunroof does not open. This concerns me as this was a huge selling feature when buying the controller.

Any help on what I may be doing or have one wrong would help.
I went through the troubleshooting and everything works fine. I fear maybe I turned some user options on or off...

Any help or anyone in Owings Mills /Pikesville area who can help would be great..

TIA..

its not suposed to open the sun roof only close it as this is a feature built into the vw
from there site

Q: How is a sunroof supported?
Q: Can the AlienWindow controller open the sunroof?
Q: Can I leave the sunroof open just a little?
A: The AlienWindow controller was designed to support cars having a sunroof. The AlienWindow controller will only close the sunroof. The ROLLDOWN command has no effect on the sunroof. The sunroof will always close fully when doing a ROLLUP or VENT.
As mentioned, it does not open the sunroof - nowhere on their site does it say it opens the sunroof, it only closes it. The Alientech is hard to get used to because the remote is just very touchy sometimes because of the timing in which the way the buttons must be pressed.

Dumb question, did you remove the resistor on the Alientech chip???
I stand corrected that the Alientech will not open the sunroof.

I did remove the resistor on the chip, and it looks like the issue comes down to timing with the remote.

Coincidentally, after playing around last night I noticed this morning that my windows are vented...surprise to me as last night I could not get them to open.

Any hints on the timing issues?

Removing the resistor allows rollup.
I have ti-Ming issues with my alien. I almost always press the button too slowly, and have to do it again.

so my advice is to press the button faster.
it's all timing and practice. that's all there is to it. took me a while to adjust. i also reprogrammed it to remove the 10second delay thing.

Removing the resistor allows rollup.
I just installed my Alientech last night, and at the risk of sounding like a total dolt, I'm going to ask:

1. what is rollup? What does it do?
2. how can I program this thing to remove the delay?
3. how can I program it at all...?

I've got it working, to do the basic functions (locks and rolls up / unlocks and rolls down). I cant get it to vent, or do anything else...

Jimmy :)
