My AC doesn't work on my 2001 Passat GLX wagon V6 4motion. I checked what fuses were easily visible, checked line pressure, moved the compressor by hand, so it's not seized. Dug into the dash to look at relays (what a pain!) and found an empty spot. Everything that I saw online mentioned specific numbers on relays, I think the AC clutch relay was "384", and that is not there, but frankly most of my relays are labeled differently than what I've found.

I'm at a loss as to why my clutch won't engage, thinking this has to be electrical.

Can anyone post a pic of their relay board so I can see if mine matches up? I don't have an owners manual, and I haven't ordered the Bentley manual yet. I'd like to figure this out, as we are travelling to NM this July. Yes, you read that right, New Mexico in July. I think air con would be nice then... The plug with the missing/nonexistant relay is visible from the fuse access panel. A pic from there would be a huge help!

Thanks for any help,

Mike

You have 2 posts covering the same issue.
Delete one of them or have the mods combine them into two.

You don't need a photo of the relay board, you need the circuit diagram for your particular car type.

The circuit diagram I have doesn't match up with what I'm looking at in my car. Wrong year, wrong model, previous owner changed things, I just don't know. I keep seeing relay number 384 for the AC. I don't have a relay 384, but then I don't have most of the other relays mentioned in diagrams that have 384 as the AC relay. So I'm at a loss as to the real AC relay "number" and placement for my car.

Thanks anyway.
