I used to have the aftermarket radio work even with the key not in ignition just by pressing a button on the radio and as soon as I put the key in and out again it would shut down the radio. Now I have replaced the radio and it doesn't work without putting the key in ignition. I think that I have all the cables connected accordingly but there sure is a mistake. Can someone give me assistance. Thanks

If you are looking to be able to use the radio without having the key in the Aux, run position than the main power wire for the radio needs to go to a constant power 'Hot' wire. Sounds like it's on a switched wire now.

What brand radios?
As I recall, the only brand that I can think of that can be switched on when the car is off (read: no voltage present at the 'ignition' wire to the radio) is Blaupunkt.

To the best of my knowledge, no.
Blaupunkt always had the ability to be turned on when the car is "off" (with, IIRC, a 60-minute timer before it would automatically turn itself off); as far as I know, no other manufacturer did or does that.
