Hi all , I want to do away with the PCV system , how much of it can I remove ? I want to remove the metal pipe alongside the cylinder head and the round PCV valve . I would like to vent the crankcase gases into a catch can instead , any advice would be appreciated , thanks in advance.

I would just put a catch can in the middle and leave the rest in place so you still have vacuum drawing the air through the can, and so any remaining vapors aren't venting to the atmosphere. If you really want to terminate at the catch can, I'd make sure to put a filter on the can so it's capturing as much as possible before dumping it out into the air.
