I searched and found some talk of adding aftermarket heating units, or replacing the seat entirely, but not much on retaining your existing seats and adding the OEM heating elements and switches.

As I understand it, my 2004 Passat wagon GLS already has the harness installed in the car. All I would need is the seat element, back element and rheostat switch. Has anyone done this using OEM VW parts, errrr, ones that won't burn through the seat?

I would be interested in adding heat to my leatherette seats, but not if it doesn't look stock. If anyone has successfully done this, I would be interested in hearing how it was done and how much it cost!

Thanks!

IIRC, the elements are not a separate part. They're actually bonded/glued to the seat material. It's not a simple as plug-and-play - you'll need new seat covers if you want OEM. After market kits are available, but those won't hook up to the factory harness of course.
