Hey guys I removed my AC condenser fan it doesn't spin I have voltage at the plugs is that why my AC condenser randomly shuts on and off? It stays on when I am in motion for example on the freeway it always is on but in stop in go or city traffic it turns on and off.
note fuses are fine, voltage at the plug but the fan doesn't spin. Sorry I don't really know how the AC works does the fan need to be on to keep the condenser from overheating?

I wanted to check with you guys before ordering the part and replacing it incase it is something else. Cheers.:wrench:

Yes, I have been running mine for the last 2 years like that. Never overheats, but a/c cuts out at stop lights, heavy traffic and temps above 100. I don't really like a/c anyway :p but I am repairing it now (wiring harness swap).

I want to make sure I replace the correct thing before buying the condesner fan.
Did you test the pins from the condenser fan goes into? I only checked for voltage I didn't check amperage.

I'm not sure I follow your reasoning but if you apply 12V across the (correct) fan terminals and it doesn't spin then either there is broken wire somewhere or the fan is kaput.
The amperage drawn through the connector to the fan will depend on the type of fan and probably even the fan's speed.

You won't get any significant current flow through the connector when you measure the voltage with your meter since it is designed to not allow much current through it when measuring voltage.
