2000 Passat 1.8T GLS. Manual A/C.

Recently my AC fan has not been blowing air when turning the fan switch. Sometimes it will just come on (when driving over harsh roads) and stay on. But if I switch the fan off then turn it back on, the AC fan wont blow any air.

I find it interesting that going over bumps (like speed bumps or railroad tracks) kicks on the fan.

What do you think is going on here?

either the fan is seizing up
or there is a loose wire or connection.

I can almost bet its a loose wire or connection because the fan is good and strong when its working.

Where should I look to see if there is a loose connection?

When the blower does not work when you operate the blower switch, does the blower work when you turn the a/c on? With the a/c on the blower should operate at the lowest speed even if the blower switch is off. If it does, then its your blower switch or wiring to or connector on the blower switch. If it doesn't then, you will probably have to pull the glove box out to get to the resistor pack and blower motor for testing.
