I just purchased a 1999 Passat Wagon. While running around the pick n pull, I found a really clean looking sedan interior. I don't want the bottom half of the seat only the top. That being said, has anyone tried to swap the top of the sedan into a wagon? I think the cup holder would look really nice inside. Also thinking about the b5.5 steering wheel with the controls, but that's another thread that I haven't found quite yet.

What do you mean, the "top of the sedan"? If you mean the seats... the front, yes, the rear, no.

There should be a DIY around for putting in a B5.5 center console in a B5. (And it'll be the same for a sedan or a wagon; the two are identical from the B-pillar forward.

I mean literally the top half of the seats, the backrest. Are the latches and hinges that different?

Of the front or back seats? Fronts are identical and interchangeable. I cannot speak to the interchangeability of FWD sedan and FWD wagon rear seat backs, only that there is definitely NOT compatibility between 4-motion wagon rear seat backs and FWD sedan rear seat backs.

My passat wagon is FWD, I'm pretty sure the sedan is a 4motion. I just want the top of the rear seats. Are the front seats in the 4motion the same as the fronts in the FWD?

Yes, I'm aware they're experts in this field. But I'm obviously not being clear enough about what I'm asking. The front seat question was an afterthought. I'm literally just trying to track down whether the top half of a sedan seat in the rear row will fit in the same location in a wagon. Just trying to see before I go measure all the hinge points and the like at the picknpull.
