Not much differnece in turbo back and cat back, the cat is bolted to your turbo. Most companies probably would consider this the same, but a true turbo back would have a cat delete, or a test pipe, which makes the cat dissappear. With out a cat you will get the turbo to spool up a bit faster and get a little extra power out of it, but everyone will tell you you are desrtoying the planet one hydrocarbon at a time. Are you looking to build some type of exhaust or just want to purchase an aftermarket kit?
99 passat 1.8t need help choosing exhaust system
i just picked up a 99 vw passat 1.8t im just wondering what kind of exhaust system to put on it. I was going to do 2.5 from the catback no resonator in to turbo muffler and stock tip. Would this work good? But whats the difference between a catback and a turbo back exhaust? what is better and whats the difference? please help me out people

Where are you located. I have a used Turbo back system from Techtonics Tuning if your interested. Its about 2yrs old.
i am located in bristol connecticut. And i am just looking to put something on there to make it somewhat faster. I might just do a custom catback like i was going to do in the first place if i cant find anything else,cause i really do not want to delete the cat
No, a turboback exhaust replaces the catalyst with a pipe OR high-flow catalyst. And no, the test pipe will not do any good on a small turbo like the K03 or K04; there's virtually no turbo lag on it anyway.
