I can't believe anyone would comission some cheesey marine artist (Christian Lassen) to paint a 30th Anniversary Edition Diablo.
It's now up for sale on eBay:

It's a 1994 Diablo which Lassen was commissioned $250,000 in 1997 to paint some swimming dolphins on the hood and sides (what a shame!).

The seller claims it's one of six cars painted by Lassen and is one of the nicest.
To me it's comparable to those tasteless airbrush "art" found on trucks and vans, or those awful oil paintings you see at starving artist sales at your local hotel convention centers.

The stuff on Lassen's website is quite amusing:

Not surprisingly no one has bidded on an opening bid of $125,000.

Hmmm.
I love fine art, but this is not my cup of tea, whether it's on a canvas or on a car (especially on a car, though some of those BMW commissioned art cars of the 70's and 80's are interesting).

You think the insurance company will accept it if you file a claim for damages?
Hell, if they did I'll crash it and buy a newer Diablo, a Bentley Continental GT, AND a Gallardo with the insurance money!!!

It's bad enough it's purple, but the dolphins really gay it up.

Now if it was a Nagel painting, that might be different...

I haven't seen this particular Diablo, but he has another one that I have seen.
He is an amazing artist. But, not my cup of tea on a car.

I was going to buy some of Lassen's art in Maui and instead bought a house. Let's just say both were good investments, but the art was better. The $3,500 painting within 3 years went up 400% to $15,000. OUCH!!!! One day I will have a gallery of his work.

That sums it up. The car belongs in a gallery, not on the road. This is for collectors of art, not Lambos.
