Sorry if this is an obvious or over-asked question but; Does a 2017 1.8T Passat have a belt or chain?
When should it be changed?
If it's a chain, do I just have the tensioner and whatever else services or does a chain need replacing as frequently as a belt?
Also, while adding windshield washer fluid the other day, I heard a ticking sound. Reminded me of a "lifter" or valve sound.
I read somewhere that it's either (1) Normal at idle, (2) some sort of tensioner, or (3) normal fuel injector sound......
Since this car has been so reliable (32k - 62k since I got it late last Nov. (2018) do much to it and I don't know if it's always been there or if it's new...
I change the synthetic oil every 5k although it could go longer between between changes......I'm from the "every three thousand miles" generation...
I've had a Suburu nearly broken in at 265k before I sold it off and the guy is still driving it around the city two years later.....
I've had two Volvo 240 Wagons go past 200k .......
I want this to last so I don't want to blow up an interrupt engine and it's not easy finding definitive info on the internets...

Anyone?

Mine has only 55,000m so not ready, but Salesman told it has a belt drive at purchase. Maybe he should talk to his mechanic.
