I have a 2006 VW Jetta 2.5. For about a year now on and off I smell exhaust in the cabin. I don’t feel like it is the circulation door unless it simply stops working when it goes bad. But regardless it still smells in the cabin when I use the heat or AC or air recirculated or not. I’m trying to avoid buying a new recirculation door flap motor if I can help it. My two guesses right now are exhausts leaks up front near the firewall or the door is either broke or doesn’t work any more.
I’m all ears here. This Jetta has 235,000 miles on it and I plan on fixing it. I had a new catalytic converter out on about three years ago.
