Woo Hoo! Split 7 spoke on the Euro Sport package is available.
Onstar no longer standard!
16" standard alloy on GLS!
Looks like they are dropping the manual transmission on the GLS 1.8T 4motion.
Of course. I bought a new 2004.5 GLS with crappy 15's two weeks ago, now they make 16's standard. FU, VW!

I guess Samoa Red wasn't a big hit....
VW needs to keep sales afloat right before introducing a new Passat. Of course it's a bargain, but you'll get a car that will quickly start looking dated.
No more door sills? That's a weird thing to drop...
No more gray shade band on front windshield either - seems like a strange thing to remove.

The door sills are great - I wonder why they got removed?

Not to metion every other model besides the 1.8 GLS, what the hell VW? I don't get it?
Cold Weather & ESP standard on GLS & GLX? :???:
Does this mean prices are going up as well?
Thank goodness they are getting rid of that lousy trunk-sill protecting film on the Variant. Mine started to look like crap after only a couple of weeks. (Still haven't gotten around to taking it off and putting on my SS Kamei protector.)

It kinda sucks that they are taking off the door sill protectors... those are a nice touch.

No more 5spd V6 at all... oh well...

SirWired
what the.. that's not cool

no more 5 speed/6 speed's over the base 4 cyl?

The passat just joined the ranks of many other 'normal' family sedans

Hah, I feel the same way.
Nice, no OK, but why would you jump for this even with the 16" wheels, when the new line is due out 6 months +/- later.

I'm gonna wait for the new B6, preferable a TDI 5/6speed manual. That is assuming that the crappy service in the dealer netword doesn't thoroughly piss me off in the meantime.

Are they gonna call the next design Passat a 2005.5 model or a 2006 model (or even worse for confusions sake, just continue calling it a 2005) like they've done with previous same year/upgraded designed VW's?

 Sometimes VW needs an injection of marketing logic.
If they delete the manual the DSG will have to be perfect or I've bought my last VW. I've just had 4000 miles of driving an auto in mostly mountainous and high altitude conditions and that's enough for one year.

It's getting to the point where the only manual I'll be able to get will be a Subaru or an F250.

Autos suck!

:c.....
I doubt we will see the next Passat in calender year 2005.
Whats up with losing the manual? (Strangely) I was thinking of getting a v6 5spd even though I have a v6 tip now ... guess I can't do that.
After the next Passat is introduced in Europe, the assembly lines for our Passats will have to be severely reduced as they are converted, so they may be limiting options for this reason.
