My 2004 Passat GLS is misfiring on all cylinders only at idle, I am currently getting code P1297 along with the misfire codes, I have searched and searched for a vacuum leak but can't seem to find one anywhere. I misplaced my VAGCOM cable but using OBD Eleven my MAF reading is around 7 to 9 g/s at idle and I cleared codes too recently to check fuel trims, but will update with those as soon as I can. Something that is very interesting to me is my engine load sits at 0% even while driving but I don't know enough as to what would cause this. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I rely on this car for transportation to work. I will be watching this thread like a hawk so please ask for any more information you may need and I will get a response to you ASAP.

1297 is a pressure drop between the turbo and the throttle valve. Did you smoke-test all the charge pipes from the turbo to the intake manifold? Did you check all those connections? Was your vacuum-leak search strictly visual?

I don't have access to a smoke tester but I did spray carb cleaner around the engine bay to check for leaks and seemed to find small ones but fixing them did not make the misfires go away, what pipes are you refering to specifically?

The hose from the turbo outlet to the charge pupe that runs across the lower front of the car, hose from the charge pipe to the SMIC and from the SMIC to the intake manifold.

Could also be some crud in the gas that clogged the injectors a bit.

I thought 7-9 g/s is too high for a warm idle MAF flow. It's been years since I ran one. If there is a vacuum leak at idle, it should be much lower. You can have a boost leak without a large enough vacuum leak to notice. Look up the Boost leak tester instructions and build one. I used a bike pump on mine since I did not have a compressor back then.
