-19x9.5 tires: 265-30-19
or
-18x9.5 tires: 265-35-18
lowered but not slammed....
how much poke would those setups have in the front to avoid rubbing?

245 wow! the TT runs bigger meats! the wheel i'm looking at comes in 8.5 and 9.5 widths. "correct" size for the W8 is 235 or 265, so i guess those are my options. to run the 265 i would need a little wide body action....

Why not just do 8.5 all around w/ 235?

Understandable, but 265 all around is kinda excessive at least IMO...just do 235 up front and 265 or 275 in the rear and you will be fine.

Ive heard good things about the Eagle F1s they came stock on the MKIV GLI and my buddy who had a GLI said he loved them.

excessive is a S/C W8 passat wagon:D i'll think on it.

IIRC the F1's came on the R32's aswell. tirerack gave them a great review. looking for the best summer tire, in the correct size, that won't kill me if it rains; rules out DOT R-compound.

This is a 4motion with 18x8.5's and 18x9.5's.

He is running 225/40 on the front and 255/35's on the rear. I am running the same sizes on my W8 and I get plenty of traction. I only break the tires loose if I drop the clutch at 3K RPM'S. My car is slammed and I only rub on large bumps or u-turns.
