I have a '98 Passat GLS (B5) 1.8L Turbo with 5 spd manual tranny and I finishing up with a clutch installation. I now see my car alarm going nuts.....clicking noises from under the hood. The red light on my drivers door is high on Meth....flashing wildly and no crank no turn over. I have tried locking and unlocking from the trunk. I have also done this on the passenger door with no success. What's the secret ninja move here gang? NOTE: My drivers door lock has been spun but I was able to start before this current repair and that didn't affect the alarm or the car starting. HELP.....I'm MELTINGGGGGGGGGGGG.....DOWN.

Check the battery voltage, also double check for pinched wires between the engine and trans.

Voltage was solid on a new battery. 12.5 sitting. I hear a clicking noise going crazy. It sounds like a relay gate going mad.I'm going to do some more research and test several circuits tomorrow.

I would check voltage at the starter and fuses, there may be a bad ground or positive lead somewhere.
