hi,
i am student in australia completing year 12, one subject i am studing is automotive tecnology, for my year 12 major work(HSC) on a passat (1974-6), im not sure on which exact model it is and im having alot of trouble finding information on this model. i have my dads old manual but still cannot find some information.

. it is 5 door, 4 cylinder straight, 1.6 liter, automatic transmission. i was given it by my grandfather, it is in very good condition considering how old it is, almost no rust and engine and gearbox works well. there are some paint chips and scartches that i am reparing and i have sanded back, pannelbeated, primed some pannels ready for painting but i am unsure of which colour paint to buy/paint it. Ive searched google and looked at around 500+ websites but still cannot find any websites that have colour codes and cannot find the code on the compliance plates (or just dont know where to look)

Are there any forums for the 1970's models for passats or website that would have information on passats from this era.

All help would be greatly appreaciated. thanks

I'm not sure I understand what you want - do you want the code for the original color or for all colors available back then?

BTW, seeing your car brought back memories for me....

The color of ours (see the pics in that thread) was called "Spanish Green." It looked very nice with the beige interior. Good luck with your project. I have an owner's manual from a '76 US model. I could scan it for you if you are interested. PM me.

the vehicle identifacation number--you should see it through the windshield glass on the bottom left or right.that is where it usually is. if that dont work there might be one in the door jamb or on the firewall.
