nah i dont think so but the i always got all my services done on time including 40k and 80k services. and would u know how much it would cost for this service?
Uh, oh. At 105k you really need to have the timing belt done; most people here say the factory spec of 105k is way too long, and recommend an interval of 60-80k. Thing is, if the belt (or it's associated tensioner, idler, etc) fail, you're going to do catastrophic damage to your engine. If you're having your services done at the VW dealer, I'm surprised they haven't mentioned it.

The ouch part is the cost. Depending on which engine (1.8T or V6) where you live, and who does it, this is in the $800 - $1400 range. Ask your VW dealer about it, and/or ask again here for more advice.

dealerships did mention it but they said the belt didnt look that bad so i might be able to make it to 105k because of the engine is really clean as mentioned by them. personaly the car runs like its new.

Yeah really ^. ZOMG change that timing belt NOW.

Mine is in the shop at 105k for a blown timing belt as we speak, but that's another story because I actually had it changed at 70k when you actually should (freak snap).

I was quoted 1100.00 today from a VW dealer where I live.
Included the belt, water pump and a pulley. The tensioner if needed (but I feel should be changed) is an additional 165.00

I then got a quote from a "high end" foreign repair shop for 1400.00
They claim that they change every associated pulley & tensioner which the dealer does not. They will not leave anything to chance.

I know I could do the job and save some money but I don't really have a garage anymore and working on a crushed stone driveway isn't fun. I'm not sure who to use.

You are way overdue for timing belt. Check the brakes, front and back, serpentine belt, AC belt, hoses (which should be fine, mine are still stock and it good condition after 5 years and 210k. Expect control arms in the next 40-50k, and you should do a transmission fluid and filter change at this time as well.

I'd change the oil, air, and fuel filters. Chainge the flids as well (oil, PS, and beer for the body).

I'm doing this this weekend. I changed all the timing belt parts, tensioner, water pump, and belt at 80k.
