This may ba a stupid question, but did they make a 1.8 and a 1.8T for these cars. I was checking out a chip website this morning and it showed a chip for a 20 valve 1.8 125hp goes to 136 hp and then a chip for the 1.8T 150hp goes to 190hp.

Are there two different 1.8 engines that they put in these?

As well as the 1.8 and the 1.8T there was also a change in BHP between the B5/.5

The only 1.8 offered in the US was the 1.8T: 150hp in the B5 and 170hp in the B5.5.

The 1.8 NA was available in Europe.

Is it me or does a N/A 1.8 seem like it would be too small to provide any efficiency gains on a car this size? I would think they'd have to run it at higher RPM much more which would drive fuel economy down. No?

There is a 1.6 as well in Europe but not in the UK.....
I have a 1.8 125bhp. It's not a racecar but with a manual xmission it goes well enough. Does low 30's mpg (Imperial).
The diesel 130hp is one of the best, faster in the real world than the 1.8T.
