0W-40 on 190,000 miles v6

I changed the valve cover gasket on my v6, with 190k the head looked very clean and cams had no wear. Is it safe to go to 0w-40 syth. or should I stick with reg oil? 10w-40 would be thick for winter so what's my option
Thanx all

0W-40 is the correct fill for these engines for all seasons. Stick with that. There is no compliant 10W-40.

And don't let the 0W-40 thing fool you into thinking it's thin. It can actually be thicker than many 10W-40s at operating temperature. The first number is only suitable for measuring viscosity when the oil is cold, which 99% of the time the engine isn't.
I was little worried using 0w-40 since this only comes in sythetic. From what I hear the sythetic can loosen up deposits and cause damage and leak in the gaskets. Since this is thick oil I'm going to go ahead.
That's a myth. It may have been true 20 or 30 years ago, but not today. The detergency of today's conventional oils is very good, nearly on par with synthetics. It won't loosen deposits.
