Hey guys, new to the room and this has probs been covered somewhere, not sure if it's a 4 motion thing or not but when pulling away it feels like I'm driving over small pieces if wood up until about say 20 ish mph then it's quite smooth but it quite ennoying pulling away.......am I talking shite or any ideas guys?

Tip or manual? Depending on the trans type, it could be low gear oil in the center diff, a failing flywheel or low gear oil in the trans.

Hi PZ yeah sorry mate it's a 6 speed manual....quite hard to explain it tbh once you up and running it's fine....it's just the pulling away up say 20 mph just feels a bit rough and not smooth at all ���� my resident vw specialist is talking about changing rear axle �� Which I thought is a bit hung ho �� Cheers mate will maybe send him in this direction 1st before he gets to drastic

In the 6sp, the center diff shares the gear oil with the trans. It's still possible you have a bad dual mass flywheel. A bad inner CV joint can cause a similar feeling, but they rarely go bad on the back of a 4Mo. There should be a little play in the joint if it is bad, enough that the mechanic can notice it. It's also possible that the rear diff front mount is bad and causing the diff to shake under throttle in 1st gear. The rubber insert is available from Audi, for the C5 A6, as it uses the same mount. VW does not list it, but here is a link:

To be honest your knowledge far exceeds mine but the rear diff front mount sounds like a defo possibility, mate you are a star, the car is of to the shop week after next and I have took a photo of your comments and will get him to check them out...I will let you know how I get on, your help is much appreciated my friend........��������

I had a bad front mount on the diff, it caused vibration and noise under throttle. I also had a bad center U-joint and it make the car sound like the driveshaft was about to fall out.

Haha never the best when you think the driveshaft is going to fall off lol........like I said she is in next week so hopefully he can have a look and find the culprit and get it running smooth again.......will drop you.a line let you know what they find, if anything lol....cheers pal ����

Yeah, I was in the middle of nowhere and I pulled out making a left turn while flooring it in 1st. 100 miles from any decent service station and 1000 miles from home. Luckily, no issues driving home apart from vibration and stress.
