Picked up one for my 2002 Passat (AWM) because, well, the old one was crumbling apart and I've installed one on my B6 A4.

Obviously, they're different, and this one is being difficult. Any one who has installed it have any tips to push it on? I'm considering using a hair dryer or heat gun to soften it up a little, but don't want to risk melting it.

Drop it in a cup of hot water for a few minutes.

Some lube may help, too. Probably the best rubber assembly "lube" that I've ever used is 3M automotive glass cleaner (the aerosol kind - sprays foam, not liquid.) It's basically mild soap, distilled water, and alcohol. Stays slippery just long enough to put the parts together.

I used some dishsoap; put a little on my finger, swabbed it inside the new snub, and then smeared a little on the metal billet the snub fits onto. still a tight fit, but it is supposed to be.

Tried the hot water method without success. Did rub some silicone grease inside the mount. Twisted right on after that.

I might have done a stupid on mine. I didn't get a 034 mount(but still considering it), but the replacement I did do.. Well, I used petroleum jelly.

I used silicone grease on my ecs poly snub and it slid right on with some pressure
