So I think my torque converter maybe be going out and I need some advice before I tackle replacing it...the car hesitates from a dead stop in first gear, and only in first gear. The rest of the gears up and down shift smoothly with no issue but when I go to launch from a dead stop it will slip a little then a slight jerk and it will go. Does it in tiptronic mode and "D". I have a VAG code reader coming in soon and I hope that might help but as of now I have no lights on except an airbag light(which is another reason for purchasing the VAG). The engine itself runs great with no issues and has only 112K on it. If you ease onto the gas it will not have an issue but I know something isn't right.

Any assistance in this issue would be greatly appreciated, Thanks :)

Has the fluid level been checked? Has the fluid and filter ever been changed? It does not sound like a typical TC failure, they usually just fail to lock up, eventually throwing a code. Is it any worse in reverse?

I haven't yet checked the fluid, I purchased this vehicle not to long ago and I'm not sure about the filter or the age of the existing fluid... I think you take a plug out and stick your finger over to feel a level? And no issue in reverse
