I'm planning to replace the plugs, wires and coil pack next week. This evening I was looking at the harness-coil pack connector and can't figure out how to get it to release? I'm thinking the slot on the underside is involved in the mix, the question would be how :) Any help on this will be appreciated, thanks.

Regarding those connectors, after you watch how the little rocking latch moves, making that happen is pretty easy. I have a small flat head screwdriver, bent 90 degrees near the end, which works every time with a small twist. Be careful because these things break easily with not a lot of force, although a broken latch usually doesn't mean the connector comes apart on its own.

OP, why are you changing the coil and wires? The 2.8 in my A4 is using the OE coils, igniter module, and plug wires from when it was made; 5/95.

Thanks ylwagon, I ordered the tool from ECS to be safe, if the release slot were not on the underside or if I had some experience with the these, I'm sure I could get it apart. Happy to have found the tool though :)
As far as why, the coil pack in there now has no markings (not the original) and the wires as well, do not look like any of the better sets I've seen. I'm guessing they were put in at a goodyear type place??? I travel a good bit, so I'd rather change it all out than have something fail and have to settle for what ever I could find. Better said, find the next day :) I find things like coils tend to go bad at night :) soooo...
Tell them I said hey at Aloha Family Billiards in Buena Park :)

I don't remember ever being to Aloha Family Billiards in Buena Park, but coincidently, I have a cousin Mark in Georgia, from Alpharetta. He's not a VW or Audi guy, but I'm working on him. BTW, I'm on my way to Atlanta Sunday morning.

Well hey ylwagon, yah, Aloha's a lil off the beaten track :) Small world though, enjoy Hotlanta. BY the way, I have a little clear handled craftsman flat head I'll be bending a L in if the ECS tool doesn't work. Thanks again for the tip.
