Fellow B5ers:

How would our B5.5 stock (Tip) do against the 2000 528i stock (5spd) in a street drag race?

What is the best way to launch the Tip B5.5? Left foot on brake, right foot on gas (what RPM?) waiting for light to turn green? TIA for the answers.

i think the bimmer would be a bit faster as its a bit more powerfull, and a 5spd and rwd, if i had to place bets id go for the bimmer. now if yours was chipped

Get ready to have your A$$ handed to you,
unless you get chipped and only race for a 1/8 mile, cause all bimmers have crazy top end... although passat have very respetable top end too.

IMHO the Passat would have a better shot at winning from 50 to 100 mph where the turbo is at full blast the whole time.

Also, we kinda have "crazy top end" for a family sedan, too.

I've had 99 528, (not the 5 sp), this car is a little heavy for that engine.
I'm one of the believers.
What's the distance? And is it from the full stop? It was the weak spot on my bimmer, but once again, mine was automatic.
