  2. And yet another coolant leak

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
So, last week the heat quit working. Then she dumped all the coolant down my driveway. I filled it back up. Put it on jack stands and started it up. Nothing happened for a few minutes. I’m guessing once the thermostat opened a when it started pouring out. It was coming out around the passenger...

  5. Yet another airbag light, hours of research but no answers

    B5 Garage
Hey guys! Car in question is a 97 passat b5 1.8T avant Been researching this problem for a while now and I am at the end of my rope. I had the passenger side airbag deploy when driving down a curb at low speeds (car had 2-300kg extra weight from moving stuff though) I decided it would be...
  6. Yet another B5.5 Auto/5M Trans Swap Thread

    New Member Introductions
I scoured the forums as best as the slightly clunky search function here would allow, and didn't really find an answer. It seems most people have an auto Passat and scrounge the 5m parts from here and there, and need to know what they actually need. The responses range from "For God's sake...

  8. Yet Another Flasher Thread

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I have a 2003 B5.5 wagon FWD 5 spd 1.8t. Like almost anyone else that owns a VW, the turn signals in mine have developed problems over the years. I've replaced the flasher unit before, along with the turn signal switch. But this time is a bit different: While signaling a right turn at a stop...
  9. Yet Another Oil Leak Thread

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
2000 V6 ATQ. Brand New VCG, CCT Gasket and Half moon seal. Passenger side. I installed the VCG, CCT and half moon seal while the head was out of the car. Torqued everything to spec and placed rtv where indicated, (corners and valley). I cannot find this leak. I know it is landing right below...

  11. Yet another V6 won't start thread

    B5 Garage
Well, you'd think I'd have enough practice with my 01 Passat 4motion not starting; but I guess not... This all began a week ago, my son was trying to drive the car, it started just fine and then the coolant STOP signal came on, so he stopped the engine and took another car. Well it was just...
  12. Yet Another Shock Thread (What to Buy For 2003 V6 GLX Wagon)

    B5 Garage
I think I need new struts and am looking into this whole lowering thing. I have never dealt with anything regarding suspension, so I just started searching around the forum and watching youtube videos. Looks like a pretty sweet upgrade, but I don't know where to start. I hear a loud popping...
  13. Seafoam, yet again...

    B5 Garage
Probably been covered a million times, and I apologize in advance. Recently replaced the big PCV hose on my early-ATQ and saw the mess that was waiting for me inside. I'm thinking Seafoam would be the best way to get rid of this without going through the torture of pulling that hose out again...
  14. 2015 Passat Wolfsburg - 22,000 miles on it now, no issues yet.

    Volkswagen Passat B7 Discussion
Just rolled over 22,000 miles on the Passat. Purchased it a little over a year ago and so far it's been a very reliable and run to drive car. Anyhoot, 22,000 miles and has run great so far.

  17. 2.8 Poor MPG, No cel, some new parts no fix yet...

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Ok so I've read just about every thread here regarding mpg fuel selection etc etc. My situation: My 2001 B5.5 was diagnosed with a bad head (138K miles). We decided to change it with newer engine instead of rebuild the one I have. new/ used engine (had 62k on it) and clutch and (comfort control...
  18. Yet another "A/c Doesn't work" thread

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Sorry guys. When pressing my a/c button, I get nothing. The lines are pressurized (no gauge). And I took out relay 384, cleaned it with a soft wire brush and all of the contacts i could safely re-solder, I did. There was no visual indication the relay was bad besides a little amber corrosion...
  19. Yet another wheel spacer question

    Volkswagen Passat B7 Discussion
I have a '14 Passat with OEM Bristols, and I haven't been able to find anything about the type of spacers to use for them. The popular spacing for aftermarket rims seems to be 12mm front and 20mm rear. My measurements from the widest part of the sidewall to the outside of the fender was about...
  20. CryptoWall 3.0 - Have you been hit yet?

    Off-Topic Forum
I got hit with CryptoWall 3.0 within the last few days on one of my home pc's. I spent the last few days here and there poking around (wife said the pc was painfully slow), I thought originally I had dropped a drive (running RAID). Determined RAID array is fully intact. I sank my teeth into this...
