Hi, My 2002 1,8T (AWM) Passat Wagon had developed a coolant leak which I finally tracked down to a disintegrating turbocharger coolant hose. Here a picture of the hose for reference: The location of this hose makes it very difficult to access it. I took out the airbox and hoses attached to...

Good evening gentlemen, After lots of digging, searches and googling around I finally took the courage to proceed this update on my car. Here are the details about the vehicle, the radio and of course the main goal: 1998/99 AEB 1.8T Sedan: No Cruise Control, just the regular switch for turn...

Removing and cleaning the throttle body on the V6 can be a daunting task with it's location at the rear of the engine and it's closeness to the firewall. 3M has a Fuel System Tune-up kit that makes the cleaning fairly painless, taking about an hour to complete and delivering "professional...

Loose or missing fan pulley bracket bolts has resulted in broken fan blades on the driven fan. Can I install: new bolts, new fan clutch, new fan without removing all the front end stuff - normally associated with a timing belt job, i.e. putting the front in service position? Thanks much for...

As the title says, can anyone point me to a writeup on doing the snub mount on a V6 w/o using the service position? I see people talking about it in threads, but no specific links on the topic. Thanks.

Hey guys, figured Id post this one in the technical section. I noticed that the late model b5.5s came with the sideview mirrors with the turn indicators like on all MK5 cars. My 03 does not have these but Id like to put them on if thats possible. Im assuming alls you would need is the mirrors...

This blows. Bad rattling sound and a bunch of coolant shooting out of car this morning. Almost positive it's the waterpump. It has 140K on it.

I'm @223k, replaced oil pump after getting a STOP oil pressure warning. Not sure if I should throw more money at it. I'm sad. Taking it.back to my mechanic who I trust. AutoRx? I have to admit I used dyno oil for at least 40% of oil changes. Car drives strong , it burns oil at a quart...

Hello! I need to perform a full coolant flush to my 98 AEB and while considering the best way of doing it, this "thing" just hit me: what if I drop as much coolant as possible by the radiator nipple, remove the thermostat housing, take the thermostat out and place the thermostat flange back to...

Here's the link from the Information Base: Power Steering Flush - DIY I followed it with these exceptions... 1. I discovered that ~200 ml more dirty fluid could be "pushed" into the reservoir by turning the steering wheel (engine off=more effort) from right limit to left limit. It's just...

First posting here, I went through about a dozen pages back to see if there was already a thread but couldn't find one one so felt I should start one. We have a 2000 Passat 4-Motion Wagon (automatic transmission) have had it in the family since it was new, it has 113,000 miles on it and we were...

How hard is the retrofit to install foglights in a 12 or 13 passat without them OEM? Thanks. Chase

OK I am about to replace a bad torque converter. Along the way I'll do the TC seal and the crankshaft rear main seal. Are there any cons to just replacing the seal itself, without the cover + gasket? Does the seal install from the back of the cover? Thanks - let me know. Derek in Houston

i'm lowered about 2.5 at all 4 corners on a spring setup. i was wondering if there was anyway to get any lower in the front with my existing setup without having to switch to coils... i know i should just go ahead and buy the coilvers, but all i really want is for the front to match the rear...

I would normally buy 225/45-17's, but a local guy is selling the above setup from his Audi at a good price, so I need to know if it will fit the wifes family car. It's at stock ride hight, and if I ever lowered it I would not go lower than 1BE springs (minus <20mm). Thanks!

Does anyone know where I could buy the lower grilles for a b5.5 without the holes for the foglights, if they even exist? I removed the foglights to make room for the fmic piping so now I just have two empty holes which looks a little silly. Thanks guys :wrench:
