I'd greatly appreciate opinions on this:
I've replaced a few axle bolts over the years and generally followed the Bently Manual instructions to torque to 140 ft-lbs and then the additional half turn (180 degrees) after. But I usually would only do an additional 1/4 turn (90 degrees) because I...
I need a definitive answer! I'm doing the motor, snub, & trans mounts and recently did the rear lower control arm on my 01.5 ATQ/DVZ, and I'm pretty sure these are what need to be replaced...
- motor mount: N-906-630-02 (bolt)
- trans mount: N-010-470-7 (bolt) + N-023-004-11 (nut), reusing...
So I just got these sweet aloe wheels on ECS for a decent price and I'm looking to wrap them up. I'm looking to stretch a little bit. I also bought a whole coil over kit and all that too. Time to put the beast to the ground... Any recommendations??18 x 8 just a little stretched. Thanks.
If you are considering reusing stretch bolts, read this first:
If you remove any torque to yield bolts (Stretch bolts), you SHOULD replace them with new bolts and torque to specification.
If you reuse the old bolts, DO NOT torque to specification, this would take them way past their maximum...
So if the subframe needed to be shifted to correct camber and since the subframe needs to be loosened to accomplish this, wouldn't you then need to replace the subframe bolts due to them being stretch bolts?
so we know its 30 pounds and 2 --90 degree turns
as long as your above 45 pounds tourque your good. either way
torque your shit till 45....50 pounds .. than twist your bolts till they turn no more
as long as your bolts are at 55-60 lbs on the torque wrench your good.
so 55 - 66 pounds...
Anyone know the Maximum Final Torque after the 30 and additional 2 -90 Degree turns Give or take?
Some one said 117 to 125 but i always like to be sure.
I really hate not knowing that final torque. It drives me crazy.
Thanks if you got an answer.:wrench:

Yes, I got ronal teddies.
Here they are.
And now on the car......
Kidding, they are going on the cabrio in the background.
I did however get new wheels for the passat too.

And for those that were dissapointed that the teddy bears weren't on the passat...
Can someone post the part number for the stretch bolts that are used in the motor mount brackets when changing out the motor mounts? I know there are three bolts in each moutning bracket. Are all of them stretch bolts and do i need to replace all of them as opposed to reusing them?
Since I have seen a lot of stretch, poke, wide wheel threads getting closed and locked as of lately I figured I would start one for all of us who do believe it looks good.
Lets start whoring this out.
my old setup
I currently have the Fikse Profile 10's sizes 18x8.5 & 18x10
The tires I am currently using BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 225/40/18 and 245/40/18.
There is a slight stretch, but the tires are really not meant for stretching. What tire brand and sizes would you guys recommend?
Ultimatley when I bag my car I'm gonna throw this set of rims I'm getting on without tires and dropping it on wood blocks so when I lower the car I can see how the rims will sit and what tires I will need. Something like this
