  2. Lacking throttle response

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I just got my head rebuilt and put my car back together and now it bogs down when I shift wants to stall when I start it and overall just lacks power. Did I possibly put the camshaft gear on backwards there was a timing mark on both sides and the head shop took it off so I'm not sure, but I also...

Hi guys, Im having the usual ABS + brake fault indicator in the dash, with no ABS functionality whatsoever. Im aware of the possible faults in the module, but my question for you is slightly different. Im trying to use vagcom to search for the fault code, but all I can get for the ABS...

  5. 5 mins to better throttle response (for some) with a 1.8T DBW

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Like many of you I've been experiencing less than enthusiastic throttle response from my 1.8T Drive by Wire. I've done many of the recommended easy fixes. Some of which improved throttle response. I have no idea (other than instinct after reading Passatworld threads for the last 2 months) why...

  7. Passat 02 / Transmission Oil (Dealer Response)

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I am almost at 120k with my 2002 Passat (4Cyl. 1.8T, AWM, Wagon) ... I read through a couple of threads about ATF change and think I can do that myself with good instructions. I checked on a quote from the dealer. His response was: ATF change on my car would be recommended at 80k. It would cost...

    B5 Garage
Hi, first time posting here but been on this forum for a few years now since I got my 98 B5 passat with the 1.8t (manual transmission) in 2008. So far it has 100k+ miles on it. I'm far from being a mechanic but I like to understand why my car doesn't work before going to a shop for repairs (I...
  9. No response from controller. I did everything I knew I should do.

    B5 Garage
Hi, I have big problems with my Passat and I am sick of spending money to diagnose my car. So I bought one 3rd party cable and downloaded VCDS Lite. I did all the steps, installed all the drivers need, choosed the right port, tested succesfully inside VCDS but I still have problems. My car is...

Hey fellas! New to Passat World but not to the VW scene. Very mechanically comepetent, ASE certified tech. Have had many VW's. Recently picked up a very clean '02 Passat Wagon, 1.8t, GLS, FWD, 5spd tiptronic, 90k miles for my wife and little one. Car runs well overall but I have noticed that...
  17. FYI...Emailed APR to ask if 3.6 ECU upgrade in the works. Will share response.

    Volkswagen Passat B6 Discussion
I don't see any indication that APR was/is working on anything, but thought I'd ask before I go the Revo or Unitronic route. I'm an APR fan and current user, so I'd like to stick with 'em if I can.

Hello, Just heard back about the VW timing belt class action lawsuit. They are declining my $1700 claim (due to a premature timing belt replacement) citing that its due to regular wear and tear. The replacement occured at 55K miles due to timing belt tensioner failure and had minor damages to...

I have an '03 Passat GLX V6 5M - 95,000 miles. The Goodyears ride fine and handle well enough for what I do, which is mostly highway driving. I don't race the car, nor try to push the car to the limit, yet I do have a spirited driving style as compared to most people I know. Replacing...
