Great opportunity to have some BBS CH wheels and customize them to fit the look of your car.
Took these off my W8 when the plasma finish started flaking off after my wife's curb rash incident. All wheels are functionally fine but need to be sandblasted and refinished.
So, the PO of my wheels decided to try to refinish the wheels, let;s just say he failed and I found out the hard way removing the plastic dip.
So Goo Gone failed to get it off.
High pressure washer failed to get it off.
So I decided that I might as well take up a notch and use paint stripper...
I've been looking at buying some new wheels for my b5.5 wagon, 17" VW Bistar wheels, I think they would look great,

Bought the rims like this with snow tires for 200$
Then I took the tires off the rims and started to go at it with the sand blaster
after sand blasting there was some un even spots with old paint that the blaster wouldn't get off, so I took 400 grit sand paper and took about 20 mins per rim...
[Note to reader] I write both DIY summaries and project journals. The DIY summaries are literal, step-by-step guides to completing a project or repair/restoration on Passat parts, components or accessories.
The project journals are more a chronicle of a drawn out process, with all of my...
There is a set of 18x8 OZ Superleggara's for sale near me and I am trying to find out a little more about them. First off, it seems like these wheels are no longer in production, is this correct?
They are in pretty rough shape, finish wise. Really no curbing at all, the clear is all messed...
2 days ago I refinished the headlights on my 98 passat with 213K miles, and have the result listed below
I went with sanding off the old finish, buffing it out a bit, and putting on a new clear protective finish
I can share the tactics and what I used if there is any interest :wrench:

I have a wild inkling to refinish all my wood trim pieces with a darker, ebony pearl effect and I cant tell if the pieces are plastic through and through or if they actually have a wood veneer under all that shiny clear finish.
Does anyone know? Any spare/broken wood trim pieces laying around...
Hi all -
Graduation and officer pay is currently burning a hole in my pocket :D. I have been looking for a set of 18"s since my current 19"s wreak havoc on driving comfort. I have found a set of 18" Flik Artics that have some cosmetic damage, the worst of which is curbage around most of one...
Just came across this neat website that has great information on repainting, blend painting, body work, dent repair, scratch removal, polishing and loads of other how-to's. Its called Refinish Network. Lots of videos and articles to view if your unsure about proceeding in auto body work.
Anyone think these are re-finish-able for not too much change? I thought if i was able to sand out all the bad spots and i might be able to make them a great set of winter rims?
I have seen some amazing projects come to...

my oem factory alloy wheels are not bent or damaged, but the paint is chipping and flaking around the edges. all they need is to be sanded and prepped for a new coat of paint and clearcoat. there are shops that specialize in restoring wheels for a flat rate of $125 (more like $190 when all is...

I have a set of ASA AR2s and the lips are starting to show where. There are some "snowflake" type issues happening in the clearcoat of the wheel. I am looking to possibly clean them up a bit but wanted to get some advice on this.
From what I can gather it will mainly be a sanding process...
