i am rebuilding the 2.8 out of my 2003 Passat sedan. What is the lowest CR pistons I can put in the block? I am keeping an eye on a Future 2.7 swap, and would like to only buy pistons once. Can I put 9:1 pistons in the 2.8, keeping in mind that it will be N/A for about a year.

The cylinder head isn't worth machining and the block has at least 1 bent connecting rod. What is the biggest size piston I can put into this block? I will also need to know where to find the parts. I may be needing a head too. I live in Hawaii and used parts are hard to find and most mainland...

So i got my new forged rods in, but they dont fit the pistons. They are thicker. Is that a common occurrence that i overlooked or do i have the wrong rods?

Finished pulling the head and the pistons have a single valve scuff mark from what looks to be only one of the intake valves... No damage to the side walls or around the top... So I plan to dis-assemble the head once I get the tensioner tool. Two things... please advise on correct cleaning...

Hi, The two pistons (or maybe its one) seem to be broken. It takes quite a bit of effort to open the trunk. It stays open pretty good but it is sure heavy. Can someone point me to the right part & possibly an online source? Thanks, Rich
