Hi. I drive a 2002 VW Passat 1.8 L Turbo, 4 Cylinder. In December I took it to a cheap mechanic shop to have the oil changed, because I couldn't afford the $115 it costs at the independent VW mechanic. The shop told me they used full synthetic like they were supposed to. A month later, the...

Hi everyone! I replaced my coolant flange two years ago due damage and recently developed a second coolant leak (B5 ATW engine). This time, the coolant is leaking from the mating point of the coolant flange and heater core hose. When I replaced the flange, I recall there being an o-ring in...

Hi, Anyone know the part number for the splined O-Ring on the air charge pipe that goes from the intercooler to the throttle body? 2004 Passat AWM engine. I'm chasing a boost leak, and as I have removed & replaced this hose 2x per year since new ( 26+ times) while doing the oil changes, I...

Hey all, Sorry about the awful title I'm just a little enthused at the prospect of finally finding out why the new CTS wouldn't fit into the flange (I think it's called?). I replaced the CTS 6 months ago and the new one wouldn't fit with the O-ring it came with and so I flippantly dismissed the...

I am at the end of a water pump replacement in my son's 2000 Passat 1.8t AWT engined car. I bought the parts locally at O'Reilly Auto. He was driving it and heard a loud sound, then the temp started rising and he shut the car off. I expected the impeller to be separated from the shaft, but it...

I think I have found the source of my issues. I think the o-ring on the intercooler pipe to throttle body is worn or damaged. There seems to be oil residue and dirt all around that area and i think there is a boost leak causing map sensor problem. Anyway without buying a new hose what size is...

I've been searching the previous posts for the O-ring sizes needed for the coolant flange replacement but can't find them. Could anyone who knows the sizes post them here. Basically, the CTS, heater hose and breather hose O-ring sizes. I want to buy these from AAP since the stealership asks $8...

I've been chasing a small coolant leak for a couple months. It will leak down from the max line to the min line after 3 or 4 days. I can see it on the the belly pan, but it's hard to tell where it's coming from. After taking some pictures around the coolant flange area and the connections...

Dear all, recently I found an oil leak from the vacuum pump. Referring to the picture, is that right to just remove the five torx screws and replace an o-ring? I realized that the oil leak coming from the bottom torx screw and the stealership asked for $1000 to fix the leak, by changing...

At one time I ran across the Napa number for a 22x? or was it a 24x? o-ring which goes inside the heater core supply hose elbow which connects behind the motor, cant find the damn thing now! I thought I had one that fit and it was seated but it just blew! I need this devil car out of...

So I mixed up my o rings and i wasn't paying attention. One o-ring has has a flat bottom and kinda tapers down. Is that the one between the engine block and water pump? Or is that the tstat o-ring. Thanks

if your oil cooler o-ring has never been changed or it's been a long while consider changing it now before cold weather sets in. Very cheap part and easy to replace. Very messy and potentially an engine killer if it fails (more prone to do so on a cold morning).

Hi folks, I had to replace the valve housing and bleeder valve, and the breather tube (06A 103 213F) cracked from age and is being replaced also. The problem I am having is getting the J-shaped breather tube in the oil filter bracket with the O-ring in place. The tube fits in without the...

Hi, I have a 2001 B5.5 1.8t Passat. Recently, the orange tube that the oil dipstick slides into corroded into a bunch of little tiny pieces. Had to get the pieces out of the oil filter, rinse, and fill twice before I got them all. But anyway, Got the new "boot" put on, and drive around the...

Hey guys, While changing the real differential oil on my wife's 2000 4 motion, I noticed there was no o-ring on the filler and drain plugs. There's one on the front differential, and just about every other plug on the car, but I don't know for sure about this. Anyone know? Thanks very...

I took my PCV system apart and now I'm trying to put it back together. This has been easy with one exception, the oil breather tube. I did thoroughly clean out that area where it mounts in the oil filter bracket (#1 in pic) but I just cannot get it to fit in. The thick orange arrow in the...

While replacing CTS, the old o-ring basically disintegrated in the fitting for the sensor, and in attempting to get the bits out, some fell into the coolant system... Now I am afraid to start the car! Where does the coolant go after the CTS? Into the block? to the radiator? Otherwise this...
