whats happening fellas.
my car is due for oil change, have a question about oil filter.
i've always used the mobil 1 extended performance oil filter. but is the Mann Hummel oil filter better. or just stick with the mobil 1.
Btw, i use mobil 1 0w40 oil, don't know if that could be a factor...
My son just bought a nice 2003 Passat 1.8T wagon. The previous owner was running synthetic but I'm not sure what weight. I've got a new 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 10w30 sitting on my work bench. Does anyone see an issue running the 10w30 Mobil 1?
i changed my oil the other day and used a mobil 1 m1-201 i think? but it isn't that large of a oil filter compared to the one for the 1.8t my question is is there a larger filter i could use next time to increase oil capacity? maybe the mobil 1 m1-304 filter for the 1.8t?
I recently switched to mobil1 0w40 from lubro moly 5w40 on the 1.8T 04 with 103k miles. I went to check on the oil today 106k found out that there is nothing on the dipstick! On the lubro moly it used to consume about .5-.75 quarts every 4.5k OCI. Filled up with 1/2 quart i had on had and it...
I know a bunch of people here use Mobil 1 0W oil, so you might be interested in this:

The only catch is that is is only good at the listed retailers, which are mostly smaller stores. Napa is included, however.
I just picked up some. The sales filer listed these oils:
98HM64=TURBO DIESEL 5W40 QT
98HT81=FORMULA M 5W40 QT
98HF24=MOBIL 1 5W50 QT

Ive been using Shell Rotella 5w-40, but just switched to Mobil 1 Synthetic 5w-40 for Diesel/Truck. I know its prob. not under the VW 502 required oils or whatever, which isnt a big deal.
But is it ok? I mean as long as its 5w-40 synthetic right?
I have been looking around for Mobil 1 5w-40 and the only thing I can find readily available is their 5W-40 Turbo Diesel truck oil. Has anyone else had experience using this oil in their V-6? Is this safe to use for our cars? Or should I keep looking? Thank you.
I usually see a sign in the window when they do this and all they have is the Pennzoil sale up now, but the circular has Mobil1 5 qt's + filter for $27 also.
I'll be grabbing some more. :thumbup:
I'm not looking to start another oil war, just want to take a simple poll. I'm deciding which of these three 502.00 oils to use, (I can get them all about the same price), and would like to know which others think is the best.
If you could post just:

Ok - as we all know AutoZone is having the buy 5 qts Mobil 1 oil and a filter for $29.99 - an awesome deal - saves one something like 15 bucks per deal or $30 if you buy two deals (and that's what I did since my oil change takes 6.5 qts and I usually go through 1-2 qts in my OCI) - only problem...
On Friday, I had to run into my local Advance Auto to grab a quart of oil for my wife's car (plain ole 5w-30 for a '97 Accord). After grabbing whatever was on sale, I happened to glance at the M1. I could be wrong, but I could swear it was selling for over $7 a quart...:icon_eek:
I just did an oil change and I know the manual says to put 5w40 and use 5w30 only for toping off! I spent the whole day tuesday going up and down from 3 pepboys to 2 autozones and couldnt find Mobil 1 5w40 and pepboys gave me wrong oil filter! I got the EXTENDED PROTECTION one $7.45 per bottle...
5 qts of Mobil 1 oil and any Mobil one filter for $29.
Local store had 0-40w for $6.68/qt and the big Mobil 1 filter (M1-301) for $9.98. That would be a total of about $44 for the whole thing, without the sale.
I got mine...now go get yours!
i have about 3 sets of 5 Qts of Mobil 1 0w40 and Mobil 1 301 filters from the Autozone / Advanced Auto Parts / Pepboys specials....anways, i am out of Puralator L40316's a.k.a Mahle/Mannolator / Big Kahuna Filter, i was wondering if you guys actually used the Mobil 1 301 Filter? Is it any good...
