  1. Timing mark problems with cam intake

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I'm Worried about my 2003 passat wagon 4mo being wrecked. I'm In process of replacing the cct and I can't get all the timing marks to line up. When the crank timing mark is lined up with the factory timing notch, the cam exhaust timing lines up (the triangle on the cam cap and notch on sprocke)...

  6. Valve cover timing mark

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I have replaced my blown awm head with a amb head. I was told that the timing mark on the valve cover varies depending on model number, is that true? Or can I use the awm valve cover on amb head and the mark will be in the same spot? If i try to line up the old valve cover with timing gear mark...

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I have heard that the mark on valve covers is different depending on model number. is this true? I have replaced my awm head with a amb I believe. So basically wondering if i need a valve cover that matches the new head? or will the old valve cover have the timing mark in the same place...

  9. CV Joint Mark it?

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
As you've all figured out, I don't know all the lingo. I'm going through the CV Joint cleaning and regreasing. Got the Axle out and CV joint separated. In following taligentx's walkthrough, there's some points I don't get. As usual, I haven't done anything yet that is irreversible. (I hope)...

My 2006 passat is showing an exclamation mark beside the cruise control symbol in the instrument panel. And sometimes it will work for 3 months and then sometimes it will cut in and out every day. So far it has been on for 3 days straight. Anything I can check to see why it is doing this...

That's a very high fee for a key...

  15. How serious is the "max" oil mark?

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Title says it all... Not able to do my own oil changes due to where I live, and it seems like everywhere I take the car they overfill. Im talking about 1/8" to 1/4" above the "max fill" mark on the dipstick. Is this anything to be worried about? My 1998 1.8t doesn't burn or leak at all. Have...

  20. Filling brake fluid to MAX mark?

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I have a 2003 1.8T. The brake fluid is 2/3 between min and max. If I take the cap off the resevoir the brake fluid is almost to the top of the opening. Filling right to the brim makes no difference ie. the level doesn't come up to the max mark. If I open the round drain plug the fluid is right...
