I had my timing belt changed in June 2008 at 102,000. My car now has 129,920 miles. Do you think I could wait till 180,000-200,000 miles to get the timing belt and water pump changed again or should I change it sooner because of the time interval that has already passed.

Just got the wife's 2003 Passat wagon 1.8T back from the dealer, for recall replacement of the ignition coils, and was shown that the engine mounts and CV boots need replacing. I confirmed that they are indeed an issue. From at least a little research it sounds like I would be doing myself a...

I posted this in my build thread, but I think it warrants a thread of it's own in case anyone makes the same mistake that I nearly made. do not become complacent with your miscelanious uses of brake cleaner as you can and possibly will create the world war 1 gas weapon "phosgene" by complete accident, possibly without knowing it. http://www.popsci.com/diy/article/2009-12/dont-get-careless very good article to read to remind us...

Just a note to those with the 4Motion setup. I maintained my 2000 v6 B5 better than the recommended maintenance intervals. Except for one item, the fluid in the tail end of the transmission where the Torsen 4Motion setup is. I never bothered with it because the fill plug was up over the exhaust...
