  1. I think its time to say goodbye to the Passat..

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
hey all, Its been a while since I've posted here. I think the time has come to let the Passat go.... 2002 VW Passat Wagon GLX 4 Motion, 173,000ish miles, Navy Blue with Black Interior. Way back around the 4th of July I was driving home and entering the turnpike on ramp....which was a curved...
  2. Goodbye VW, for now

    Anything Auto
End of a chapter for now. I have exclusively driven VWs since I was 16 (all Passat's and 1 CC). I'm sure I'll be back when VW makes a better big SUV (service guy said stay away from the Atlas for now) or for the Arteon! I'll miss the good ole days of ClubB5!! Switched to a Toyota 4Runner...
  3. Time to say Goodbye...

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Sad News Well my friends, it's finally time to say goodbye to my 99 1.8T. Too many miles and too many things to fix. Plan to fix the right front wheel bearing this week and then sell it. Good News I just purchased a 2011 BMW Z4 with very low miles and showroom condition. So, goodbye to...
  4. This might be goodbye?

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
My youngest ran the 2004 GLS Wagon into the back of a city bus today, he was driving into the sunshine and didn't notice quick enough that the bus had stopped. :banghead: The Passat is almost certainly totalled. Hood, bumper, Right side fender, R headlight, airbox, AC condenser, drier, SAIP...
  5. Saying Goodbye is harder than you think

    B5 Garage
1998 sedan 1.8T 5spd manual. I love this car. I've loved it since I bought it gently used 10 years ago. I've loved getting to know the B5 - AND you the B5 family. What do you think is a fair price to sell my baby? It has some minor interior/exterior blemishes and the ABS module needs to be...
  6. Had to say goodbye to an old friend ..

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I sold my 2002 Passat a few weeks ago. 465,000 miles and still going strong it was time for something different. I found a 2004 V6 4motion wagon with 120K on the clock. Original owners, full service receipts, a well kept car. As luck would have it a week after I bought it we had a snow storm...
  7. Goodbye to my Passat B5.5

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
After 12yrs and 150K miles, I finally said goodbye to my Passat wagon. I sold it to a dealer and wish it lucky with the next owner. I got lots of help from the B5.5 forum. You guys are the best car owners . Thank you all . I bought a new Golf wagon which is the closest I could found to my...
  8. Said goodbye to my '04 GLX this weekend

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Sold my '04 GLX this weekend to a co-worker of mine. My plans for this car really didn't materialize and it didn't end up being the car I wanted it to be, but certainly has given my wife and I some unforgettable memories. The car was purchased from out east and the bus ride my wife and I took...
  9. Goodbye RCD-510

    Volkswagen Passat B7 Discussion
Got rid of the RCD-510 (the last weak link in my system). Not a huge fan of the Metra mounting kit so I may switch to Enfig's which has a piano black version. Install went well thanks in part to the Maestro RR unit but I did have to buy a separate converter for the reverse camera (got it...
  10. Said goodbye to an old friend the other day

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
After about 16 years of driving pleasure, I finally bid farewell to my '99 Passat 1.8T (I bought it used in 2001). The car had about 205K miles on it and things were starting to go up on it left and right. In the past year I've replaced the downpipe, catalytic converter, turbo, engine mounts...
  11. Goodbye Einszett and hello Sonax...

    Wax On, Wax Off
I first discovered Einszett products when I joined this forum as Club B5 in 2000-2001 and have used them since.I used it on my 01 GLX, 03 W8 and even a former cranky member's black A4 as well as all my cars since. I loved how Glanz was easily applied and removed in sun or shade, left no dust...
  12. Goodbye Passat, hello GTI

    Anything Auto
After 12 years and 246,000 miles, I am calling it quits on my Passat. Last Sunday, I had my second accident in a year. I'm not sure why I've had two accidents in a year, as I'm usually quite cautious and can't remember being at fault in any accident since high school. The car still runs, but...
  13. Goodbye to my B5...

    The Showroom
Over the weekend I go out of a 17 year old car and got into a 2 year old car. My B5 1.8T as I sold it. New member of the family: 2014 MK6 GTI Wolfsburg Edition w/DSG (24,000 miles) Thanks for all the help over the many years with my Passat!
  14. Well I guess TSA goodbye.

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Well I guess It's goodbye. For the first time in 15 years I am without a B5 in the driveway. My wagon went off to a new owner last night. I was actually quite sad to see her go. I will look in occasionally, he'll may even pick up that W8 one day So thanks for all the help over the years. Good...
  15. Goodbye to my second Passat

    Anything Auto
I replaced my 05 TDI with an 05 A6 with 70,000 fewer miles. Wow, what a change! I got it cheap because it needs one of the camshaft position sensors changed and it has a plugged-up washer sprayer. It's only a 3.2 V6, but my TDI wasn't exactly a rocket, either. I felt pretty awesome about it...
  16. Say Goodbye To That Stance!!!

    Anything Auto
I found this to be interesting as they are banding hellaflush. Hellaflush cars get hella banned in Quebec, rest of Canada to follow?
  17. Saying Goodbye to our 4Mo Wagon, with regrets....

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Possibly one of the best cars I have ever owned, 04 Passat 4Mo wagon with 1.8T Triptronic but after 10 years and 172k going to be replaced by a 2011 Touareg. I truly have a love affair with VW's, my wife knows that and accepts me for my faults, and even though the triptronic was not my choice...
  18. Goodbye Fabulous B5 - Now for a Jetta - THANK YOU Forum Members

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
After 200,000 miles I am intending to pass my wonderful B5 1.8T onto my son. He was 6 when we test drove it together, now 20 and freshman in college. We have both loved the car and still do. It will be "The best present I ever had" for him :-) Onward now for me and the new passat is too big...
  19. Learning to let go is never easy.

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I'm in the process of getting a B5 S4(6spd and only 75k miles). It's a car I had always wanted when I was a kid playing the gran turismo games, always loved the imola yellow lol :driving: Well anywho, it saddens me to say that I will not be able to keep my 02 b5.5 80k miled ATQ anymore. Being...
  20. Goodbye for now and Thanks PW

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Well, sadly the day has come where I am now Passat-Less. We sold our 02' GLX V6 Variant about 2 months ago with about 163k on the clock and yesterday I sold my 99' V6 GLS Sedan with 143k on the clock. This place has been an extremely incredible resource for me over the years and has taught me so...
